Railway freight group managers
PA Wellington Five new managers have been appointed by the Railways Corporation for its freight business group. They are Mr lan Ambler, who becomes manager of the group’s marketing and operations divi-
sion; Mr Bill Jones, who has been manager of the engineering division; Mr Ivan Gough, who has been appointed manager of Searail; Mr Keith McGavin, who becomes manager of the finance and planning division; and Mr Richard White, who is now manager of human resources. All the appointees are at present employed by the corporation. Mr Gough won the post as manager of Searail, the division which manages the inter-island ferries, against outside competition, the job having been advertised internationally, a Railways spokesman said. Mr Gough joined the Railways in 1975 after 11 years in the shipping division of British Rail. The spokesman said the appointments were part of the corporation’s shift towards a more orthodox business structure.
