Farmer appointed as Army adviser
A Banks Peninsula farmer, Colonel Richard Menzies, has been appointed the new Territorial Force adviser for the Army. He succeeds Brigadier Tom Leighs, who has retired from the Army after 24 years in the Territorial Force. Colonel Menzies is responsible for advising on all Territorial Force matters to the Chief of the General Staff. His last appointment was as deputy commander of the Third Task Force. Colonel Menzies is vicechairman of North Canterbury Federated Farmers’ meat and wool section and is a member
of the committee of Federated Farmers’ Dominion Council.
