Accord’s staff share wide array of electroplating experience between them

Electroplating is a very closely knit industry that depends on the service of a very reliable staff. Accord Electroplating, Ltd, has what it claims to be a very experienced group of electroplating administrtors and workers. Mr John Highman has a high-profile and cus-tomer-orientated role. His personal and industrial experience equip him well for the job. His work in productionplanning in the manufacturing sector was followed by recent experience in Israel, where Mr Highman worked in a solarheating factory with epoxy powder-coating techniques, staff training, and the supervision of an automated paint-line. This experience was extended in Australia at Austral Bronze Crane Copper, where non-fer-rous metal products were further processed by electroplating. Mr Highman then became sales manager of Unochrome Plating in Sydney, a position held for four years. He joined Accord electroplating a year ago, and sees a bright future for the company. The comprehensive range of finishes and advanced technology offered by Accord allows a wider range of articles to be processed, Mr Highman said. In the future he would like to see the metal finishing of a product considered at the design stage, and hopes to offer an extensive advistory service to customers. Mr Malcolm Stewart has been with the company for three years and

became head storeman at Armstrong and Farr, Ltd, in 1984. He travelled through Europe and the Middle East working in television manufacturing and the printing trade before he started work for Accord Elecroplating. According to Mr Stewart, the bumper repair and exchange is a flourishing part of the business and he said the agents, Russell Egan in Nelson, Timaru Radiator Repairs, McKay and Whelan of Dunedin, and Cyril McKenzie of Invercargill, were a great help in this area. “I’m also proud of the company’s membership of the Motor Body Builders’ Association,” he said. Recently, Mr Stewart attended a Polytechnic course on plastic repairs, polishing and painting techniques which plays a great part in the company’s introduction of plastic bumper repairs and exchange, the other added protective system is the Duplex Nickle. Mr lan Davidson is a qualified fitter and turner by trade and some early work experience was gained as an engineer on the Union Steamship Company’s ‘Hinemoa’ and ‘Maori.’ Wanting a shore job, Mr Davidson began work with Gilbarco Industries where he remained for 13 years, working as a fitter, workshop foreman, and operations superintendent. Manufacturing experi-

ence followed when five years were spent as managing director of a small company. Mr Davidson was factory manager of another plating firm for three years. He joined Huston and Butcher, Ltd, four years ago and has seen his area of responsibility expand rapidly during that time. According to the company, the reliability and experience Mr Davidson brings to his job are of great value to Accord. He and his team place a high priority on service and customer convenience. Mrs Bates has worked for electroplating companies for 25 years and 19 of those years for Huston and Butcher, Ltd. Added to this is her previous experience in a solicitor’s office. The wealth of knowledge and experience Noeleen brings to the job makes her a key member of Accord.
