Anthropology fit
Special correspondent Palmerston North Anthropology looked fit at Woodville yesterday morning when she ran a final trial for the Trailways Ormond Stakes at the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s meeting at Hastings tomorrow. Fast work took place well out on the course proper, which was soft. Anthropology and Grand Gaffe galloped 1200 m in 1:23.4, the last 600 m in 43.25. Anthropology was successful during her Brisbane campaign and resumed in the Tim Rogers Stakes at Wanganui last week. She is not without a chance; tomorrow.
Mister Aythorpe took 55.3 s for 800 m, the last 600 m in 40s. He resumes in the Alexanders Handicap, and races against a tough field, including Arctic Wolf. Just a Star, which runs in. the Byerley Thoroughbred Stakes, went 800 m in 55.35, speeding up over the last 600 m. She turned in a big run at New Plymouth last week, to be placed.
