Midwinter break
PA Hamilton School pupils will enjoy a five-day midwinter break next year, after approval by the Minister of Education, Mr Marshall, Primary and intermediate school pupils will start the school year on Monday, February 2, and end the first term on Friday, May 8. Second term dates are Monday, May 25 to Friday, August 28, with a one-week break from July 6 to 10. The third term will begin on Monday, September 14, and end on Friday, December 18.
Area and secondary schools’ first term is Tuesday, February 3, to Friday, May 8; the second term from Monday, May 25, to Friday, August 21; and the third term Monday, September 14, to Friday, December 11. Secondary schools will decide the timing of their midwinter break. Statutory holidays observed by schools next year are Waitangi Day, February 6; Good Friday, April 17; Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday, April 20 and 21; Queen’s Birthday, June 1; Labour Day, October 26.
