Southland thrashed
PA Palmerston North Manawatu had its easiest win of the season in the national championship first division match at Palmerston North yesterday, thrashing Southland, 61-6. Southland put up token resistance in the first half, holding Manawatu to 21-3, but was completely overwhelmed in the second half.
Manawatu scored 12. tries for its biggest victory in the national championship. Scorers.— Manawatu 61: Jimmy Barker (2), Ross McLeod (2), Paul Wilkey (2), Chris England (2), Bruce Hemara, Murray Henderson, Mark Currie, Gary Knight tries; Mark Finlay penalty, 5 conversions. Southland 6: Brent McKenzie 2 penalties.
