Added edge next year
PA Wellington There will be an added edge to next season’s South Pacific rugby championship for the three New Zealand provincial sides involved — Wellington, Auckland and Canterbury. All Black candidates will be staking their claims to contest the inaugural World Cup series scheduled to start on May 22. Performances in the A.G.C.-sponsored South Pacific championship will be watched with interest by the New Zealand selectors. The inaugural South Pacific series this season
was won by Canterbury. Other teams involved were New South Wales, Queensland and Fiji. The draw is.— April 11-12: Canterbury v N.S.W. (Christchurch), Auckland v Wellington (Wellington), Queensland v Fiji (Brisbane). April 18-19: Queensland v Wellington (Wellington), N.S.W. v Auckland (Sydney), Canterbury v Fiji (Christchurch). April 25-26: Queensland v Auckland (Auckland), Canterbury v Wellington (Wellington), N.S.W. v Fiji (Suva). . May 2-3: Queensland v N.S.W. (Brisbane), Auckland v Canterbury (Auckland), Wellington v Fiji (Suva).
