More Mazda
Mazda has added to its front-wheel-drive 323 range by introducing a naturally-aspirated, 16valve, twin overhead camshaft 1.6-litre model. Essentially, the engine is that of the four-wheel-drive model, but with the turbocharger and intercooler removed. The power output is 81kW at 6500 rpm, whereas that of the turbo version is 103 kW at 6000 rpm. The peak torque is also down by almost 30 per cent, but early indications are that the naturallyaspirated engine is more flexible than the turbo version.
