This person will also be required to co-ordinate the Ministry of Energy’s Policy and Regulations responses to land use, land management studies, proposals, Local and Regional Government Schemes. A higher degree in a Resource Management field is preferable or qualifications In appropriate disciplines with resource management and/or policy development experience. 2. SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER, HEAD OFFICE - VACANCY 7506 An experienced environmental engineer/manager is required to lead a small technically orientated Environmental Standards Unit, within a large Technical Management Services Section. This person will be responsible for the Environmental Standards Section, providing technical support and management services in developing and maintaining environmental and rehabilitation standards appropriate for the New Zealand mining industry and compatible with New Zealand’s environmental goals. This position will involve liaison with the Ministry’s Inspectorates, the mining Industry, research institutes and government departments to optimise environmental and rehabilitation management In mining. A higher degree in an appropriate earth science, environmental management or similar qualification is required. The Ministry is looking for a person with practical field experience and with a broad background in environmental/rehabilitation management issues. It is considered that in order to be fully conversant in all aspects required for this senior position, several years experience in an appropriate field is required.
