Waitara gas plant deferred
PA New Plymouth Petrocorp has deferred its $5O million gas processing plant at Waitara for a year, mainly because of its recent oil and gas find at Tariki, said the company’s gas division general manager. Petrocorp announced in March that it was planning a processing Plant at Wqfeara to cope wifljjpin-
creased gas demand in the North Island, particularly in the Auckland region. The plant was to take about two years for the necessary planning approvals and construction. It was to be operational by mid-1989. However, the Tariki find is of such interact
and poses alternative development options for Petrocorp that it has deferred the Waitara project. The natural gas division general manager, Mr Peter Davenport, of Wellington, said the company wanted extra time to reassess future gas supplies and demands.
