Emerging Players XIII
No players from south of Bay of Plenty have been included in the Emerging Players XIII to play the World Universities rugby league team at Auckland on Saturday. The team includes two recent test players, Gary Freeman and Marty Crequer, and three other Kiwis, Gary Mercer, Shane Horo and Vaun O’Callaghan. The match clashes with championship play-offs in
Canterbury, Wellington and Auckland. The 15-man squad comprises Vaun O’Callaghan (Waikato), Shane Horo, Marty Crequer, Paddy Tuimavave, Peter Kelly, David Watson, Gary Freeman (all Auckland), Gary Mercer (Bay of Plenty), Mark Horo, Chappie Pine (captain), Duanne Mann, Shane Hansen, George Mann, Tracy McGregor (all Auckland), John Gordon (Bay of Plenty).
