Peat bog discoveries

Sir, —A. Saunders (August 27) added further information about the peat bog man discovered in England. Nowhere in my original letter did I state that the English peat bog man had been sacrificed to Odin. I gave examples of other peat bog discoveries in Scandinavia, home of the Odin cult. There are similarities, however, in the killing method used. The garrot remained about the neck and there were sword or spear wounds. It is interesting to note that Odin, god of death and battle, reigned in Scandinavia, Wodan of the Germans and Woden of the Anglo-Saxons. Odin has given his name to Wednesday, the fourth day of the week. Readers may be interested to know that the body of a young girl was dug out of a peat bog in Denmark, with the garrot still about the neck, the eyes still blind-folded, thus pointing probably to. a sacrificial killing. — Yours, etc., B. R. HANSEN. August 28, 1986.
