Few cut-price fares left
By
LES BLOXHAM,
travel editor Air New Zealand’s cutrate “super thrifty” domestic fares have been in such demand that only a few remain available on some routes this month. They are scarcest on the Christchurch to Auckland sector for which the normal fare of $lB6 has been reduced to $B4. Only eight seats are left this month — one on September 9 and seven on
September 30. The seats on both dates are on the 9.30 p.m. flight.
The first available seats on the Christchurch to Wellington route are seven on September 9. A further seven still remain on September 15. About 45 are available over eight days during the last two weeks of the month. A limited number of the cheap fares is being offered on other routes — tolnvercargill, Dunedin,
and Palmerston North. Seats can still be booked on specified flights on some dates next month and through to the end of the year. All domestic fares, including the super thrifties, will cost about 3 per cent more with the introduction of GST on October 1. They will not be subject to a 10 per cent rise because the Government will remove the existing domestic travel tax on that date.
