Computer Show seminars
Eleven seminars will be held as part of the Christchurch Computer Show, at the Town Hall next week, from Monday to Wednesday. Advice on .the most effective use of a business computer will be provided by Mr Greg Beale, of Argos Data Systems, the data-processing advisory arm of Lawrence, Anderson, Buddle. In a second seminar devoted to the computerised handling of GST, he will comment on how accounting software handles (or does not handle) GST requirements. Mr John Christian, of South City Data Services, will outline the functions and capabilities of a spreadsheet. Educational software will be discussed by Dr Vince Ham, lecturer in computer education at Christchurch Teachers’ College. Disks and disk drives will be the subject of a question-
and-answer workshop by Mr Ron Blakemore, of Solstat Industries. Computer-aided design systems and their smooth implementation in the workplace will be discussed by Mr Tim McMahon, of Cable Price Engineering. Ken McAllister, of Active Computer Tutorials, will outline the functions and capabilities of database packages. An overview of wordprocessing software will be presented by Mr Mike Wall, of Alumni Marketing. Mr Rob Radley, of Radley Investments, will take a seminar devoted to microcomputers and the sharemarket. An overview of Local Area Networks (LANs) will be presented by Mr Tony Dickson, of the Calibre Group, Auckland. BPI Systems, of Wellington, will present a seminar on videotex. •
