Newmans $2M coach order
PA Wellington Newmans Coach Liners has placed a $2 million order for seven new passenger coaches with a Palmerston North company, in a move which the company says is part of an expansion programme. The 40-seat coaches, being built by Coachworker International, will bring Newman’s road passenger fleet to more than 250 coaches. A company spokesman
said they would be delivered over the next three months, in time for the peak summer season. Newmans is also planning to build its first terminal in Dunedin and upgrade its existing terminals in Picton and Wellington. The spokesman said there had been an increase in passengers in the South Island and over all the company’s passenger services were “holding their own.”
