‘Lofty’s’ ladies are on and off the set
Lofty Holloway, “EastEnders” slightly daffy barman with a heart of gold, is played by the 30-year-old actor, Tom Watt. As Lofty, he has been making news recently because of his marriage proposal to Michelle who is secretly pregnant to Lofty’s boss, Den Watts. But it is not long since Tom Watt was making the news because of his relationship with another resident of Albert Square. Since last September, Watt has shared a romance with the woman who plays Den’s, wife, Angie, Anita Dobson.
Their relationship was
very public, becoming more so as Den and Angie’s relationship became such a strong focus for the programme. It was being in the public eye that finally drove Watt and Dobson apart. While Dobson lapped up the attention, Watt became tired of the constant barrage of reporters and photographers wherever they went and eventually called it a day.
Tension on the set has apparently eased since then. Both are described as fine actors who have remained good friends. “East Enders screens on One at 7.30 p.m.
