Trying to entice Joan Collins into bed with N.Z. made sheets
Joan Collins may soon be sleeping in New Zea-land-made bed linen.
A new design called Dynasty in the Actil range, described as “like a drifting cloud that engulfs the bed in its misty folds,” has been sent to the actress by Auckland manufacturer Tex Style. Dynasty is a mass of frills, lace and satin ribbon on its quilt cover, pillow slips and fully quilted bedspread. “It is sheer luxury,” says Julie Hanusiak, product development manager for Tex Style. “It looks so like something from the set. of television’s Dynasty that we couldn’t resist sending it to the series’ leading lady.”
In case Joan Collins has to worry about the laundry, a note was included with the gift explaining that the luxury look is deceptive. The bed linen is made from polyester cotton, and can be easily washed in a machine.
The design is among a new floral range in pretty colours that carries names like Agincourt and Mountbatten — the company designer’s concession to male taste.
Tex Style has also produced a new quilt cover designed to keep beds looking tiday. “The luxury quilt cover we have produced is quite
unique,” claims Julie Hanusiak. “It doesn’t slip, it has a neat and tidy appearance' and can be used in both summer and winter.” Exclusive to New Zealand, the. cover is quilted on one side and plain on the other. It is warm in winter, and can be used without its inner duvet in summer.
Fabric from the Gainsborough range was used because it is 50 per cent polyester and 50 per cent cotton, and therefore fully washable.
There are three designs in the quilted covers, each with an individual quilting pattern to suit the particular design. Shimmer is a freeform crayon design in a range of soft colours, Prelude has an interesting geometric design in muted browns and apricots, while Bed of Roses is a traditional border pattern with lavish rosebeds in pink and grey ot blue and grey. • There are 16 plain dyes in flat and fitted'sheets, valances, and pillow slips to use with the quilt covers.
“Mothers love the quilts because they overcome the problem of messy bedrooms,” Julie Hanusiak says. “They are ideal for waterbeds, too, because they stay smooth and don’t rumple.”
