N.Z.U. has world at its feet
New Zealand ensured itself of a place in the World University Cup rugby league grand final when it outclassed Papua New Guinea, 54-0, at Auckland on Saturday.
The other nation in Wednesday’s final should be Australia. A 35-18 defeat of France on Saturday leaves Australia with the apparently straightforward task of only having to beat Papua New Guinea tonight to clinch the other final position.
While New Zealand was never troubled by the much less experienced Papua New Guineans, Australia had cause to be thankful for its 14-point half-time advantage when the French staged a spirited revival after the resumption.
