Too late to collect
An oversight by the Valuation Department saw rates being charged to a man who lived in the Akaroa County about 100 years ago.
In this year’s rates demands a request was made for $136 from Mr John Belby Barker.
The County Chairman,
Mr Tad Harris, said at the council’s meeting yesterday that Mr Barker had been a mail coach driver in the Chorleton area about 100 years ago. The rates applied to a small piece of land valued at $lO. It was decided that the department would be informed. ‘
