Zimbabwe to end pact

NZPA-Reuter Harare Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister, Mr Robert Mugabe, said yesterday that a trade accord Zimbabwe signed earlier this month with South Africa would be scrapped as part of his country’s full support for international economic sanctions against the white-led neighbouring State. “The decision to implement sanctions will override that (trade) agreement. It is clear,” Mr Mugabe said in Harare. Under the accord, dating back to the colonial days of white-ruled Rhodesia, South Africa and Zimbabwe give preferential treatment to each other’s goods.
