Maori employment
Wellington reporter Maoris are about three times ds likely to be unemployed as Europeans and Pacific Islanders twice as likely, according to the Statistics Department’s latest labour force survey.
The survey shows, however, that there is little difference between these groups in the percentage of people in paid jobs. In each group the proportion was about twothirds — reflecting perhaps the younger Maori and Island populations.
