Live sheep quotas
The Live Sheep Export Committee will meet next week to set a quota for live sheep exports. The committee comprises Messrs Mick Connelly (chairman), Graeme James (exporters), Frank Barnard and Jack Scott (Federation of Labour) and Bruce Anderson (Federated Farmers). Mr Connelly said that the committee had decided at its first meeting that the new quota year would coincide with the Meat Board year, from October 1 to September 30. The quota for the year ended September 30 this year was 750,000. It was set by the Government, which then set up the committee to oversee the trade.
