HOCKEY Canterbury and Wairarapa will share the Collier Trophy after drawing, 1-1, in the final of the national primary schoolgirls hockey tournament at Invercargill yesterday. BASKETBALL The final day matches of the national secondary schoolboys basketball championships at Rotorua resulted: — Division I.—Play-off for first and second: Church College 65, Logan Park 41. Playoff for third and fourth: Wanganui College 101, Mana College 82. Play-off for fifth and sixm: Timaru Boys’ High School 75, Kelston Boys’ High School 60. SOCCER Avondale College won the national secondary schools soccer tournament in Christchurch yesterday, beating De La Salle College in the final, 2-0. Three Avondale players were later named in a tournament team. The team is: P. Kotrotses and L. Malofie (Rongotai College), T. Matic, S. Mair, G. Edmonds (Avondale College), R. Muin, M. Brown (Kelston Boys’ High), M. Atkinson, G. Ashton (De La Salle), I. Chamberlain, S. Adams (St Andrew’s), L. Germon (Christchurch Boys’ High), D. Roberts (Auckland Grammar), J. Brennan (Wellington College), D. Reid (St Bede's), D. McKay (Tawa), J. Robertson (Christ’s College). Results:— Semi-finals: De La Salle 2, Sacred Heart 0; Avondale College 1, Kelston Boys' High 0. Seventeenth to twentieth places: Linwood 4, Shirley Boys’ High 0; St Thomas’ v. Horowhenua abandoned.
Twenty-first to twentyfourth places: Tawa 4, Papanui 0; Hornby 1, Burnside 0. Auckland won this year’s under-13 premier division national tournament, beating Mana, 4-1, in the final. Waikato finished third of the 12 sides which took part The tournament squad named after the final was:
