Wool freight competition
PA Auckland The Wool Board has told three shipping companies they may carry as much wool as they like and compete for the lowest freight rates. Such an arrangement is expected to cut the board’s freight rate bill to Europe. The board recently approved a new freight rate arrangement for the 12 months from October 1.
Under the arrangement the A.B.C. Container Line, the New Zealand European Shipping Association and the New Zealand Euro Line will compete for wool cargoes exported to Europe.
