Winemakers pleased
NZPA SydneySouth Australian winemakers are delighted with the success of a promotion in New Zealand last month launched after a visit to Adelaide by the Prime Minister, Mr Lange. While Mr Lange was in the state capital to open a new consulate on his way home from the A.S.E.A.N. meeting, seven of the state’s winemakers announced they would hold a promotion in Auckland and Wellington. Now the group has returned with big sales orders. Petaluma Winery expects to double its exports to New Zealand in the
next 12 months, and Wirra Wirra and Leconfield wineries have appointed agents who are already placing export orders. The State Development Minister, Mr Lynn Arnold, said he was pleased with what the winemakers achieved. I “New Zealand represents Australia’s thirdlargest market for bottled wines, so it is vitally important to keep the wine trade there fully informed of what we have to offer,” he said. . After the success of this mission, the department is already planning a bigger and promotion in New Zealand next year.
