Nuclear stance
Sir, — I am one of the proud New Zealanders — proud that we, as a nation, have faced up to the responsibility, against political blackmail, towards universal peace for our children and grandchildren. Should there be a Pacific invasion, New Zealand could only become a bloodbath like Vietnam, and the innocent suffer. Let World War II be the last major war of the nations of the world. — Yours, etc., CLAIRE COVENEY. August 23, 1986.
