Hagley Park
Sir, — I am sorry if I upset Erica Eason (August 25), but many of the slices of parks and reserves taken have been taken in recent times. Many people have seen private clubrooms put on them and said nothing. Ask for a piece of Hagley Park for a humanitarian public service and whacko. Erica Eason considers Cr Burn irresponsible. He is not; it is she who is unrealistic. A request for parking at the new hospital entrance was requested and knocked back. All the available parking space for a mile radius of the hospital is fully occupied all day, every week day. Without ' knocking down some essential old buildings, there is no reasonable space on Rolleston Avenue side. Hospital patients visiting for treatment have to go miles for a parking space, hence the request for a piece of Hagley. However, how about a small, multi-storey park over the Avon above the boat shed corner? — Yours, etc.,
