Ban on newsprint

PA Wellington The Waterside Workers’ Federation said yesterday that it would continue its interim ban on newsprint imports pending the outcome of yesterday’s talks in Wellington between union leaders and employers over the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company dispute.

The Federation president, Mr Sam Jennings, said, however, that no newsprint was expected to arrive before the middle of next month at the earliest.

“We hope this matter will be resolved long before then,” he said. Meanwhile, watersiders were working normally.
