Parents give nod to lambskin
PA Auckland The New Zealand Parents’ Federation has called for more research into the benefits of using lambskin fleeces for premature babies in neonatal care. .'.LhEniJ The national president, Ms Jenny Jakobs,' said that the association would like to see all hospitals use wool underlays in incubators.
Research had already proved that babies did better lying on lambskin fleece rather than cotton wadding, she said.
At the association’s annual conference in Auckland yesterday, members called on the New Zealand Wool Board to do more research on the benefits of different types of wool fleece.
Other remits passed called for childcare fees to be tax-deductible, warnings on cigarette packets that smoking during pregnancy is harmful to the unborn child, and paid paternity leave for fathers of new-born babies.
