Plumber assaulted inspector

Garry Edwin Cranston, aged 46, of Tauranga, admitted assaulting Derek Glover in Tauranga on July 14. District Court Judge D. B. Wison discharged Cranston without conviction, but ordered him to pay $l5O to the Crippled Children Society. Sergeant Ron Lynch said that Cranston said a row erupted over drainage connection from a house. Cranston accused Tauranga drainage inspectors of “everlasting nit picking” since he omitted to get a drainage permit two years ago.

He pushed Mr Glover over in the dirt, then walked hastily to his vehicle, Mr Lynch said. Cranston told police he had “had enough”
