Basketball player injured
The Converse Canterbury Countrywide men’s basketball league team has been reduced to 11 players for the Waitemata club’s "winner-take-all” $5OOO tournament in Auckland at the weekend.
Graeme Timms is injured. Only six players attended training last evening. Bert Knops is in Rotorua with a school team, lan Webb is in Wanganui with another
school side, Ralph Lattimore is at the universities’ tournament in Wellington, Chris Simpson is in Dunedin and Andy Bennett is holidaying in Taupo. Canterbury, the winner of this, year’s league, will play second division Waitemata on Saturday and, if successful, the winner of the DB Ponsonby-Altos Auckland match on Sunday.
