Alfa sales treble
With prices starting at $26,750, Alfa Romeo has been dramatically building its New Zealand market share this year. In the first six months, New Zealand sales trebled with as many Alfas 'going on the road as in the whole of last year. Alfa Romeo’s leader is the “33,” the saloon introduced to New Zealand in 1983. Since then it’s been progressively upgraded. Whereas the first model was the 63kW 1489 cu cm flat four horizontally-op-posed engine version, the latest versions are the 71kW SL model and the Green Cloverleaf, which develops 78kW. A four-wheel-drive estate car version, fitted with the 71kW engine, is also proving very popular. New Plymouth-based Alfa Romeo New Zealand, Ltd, will soon introduce the Alfa 75, a market newcomer, in two versions — a 1779 cu cm inline four-cylinder model and a Green Cloverleaf 2.5-litre V 6.
Prices have yet to be announced.
