P.P.T.A. paper
Sir,—l would like to thank Thelma Brass (August 25) for bringing to your readers’ attention the recommendation of the P.P.T.A. paper, that homosexuality be taught positively in the classroom. The paper has been proposed to protect the rights and conditions .of lesbian and homosexual teachers. Both Parliament and people have resoundingly rejected part 2 of the Homosexual Law Reform Bill. Should this recommendation be adopted, the P.P.T.A. must surely bring both its members and its profession as a whole into disrepute. Its very existence is reason for further disquiet about the controversial sex education programmes in New Zealand schools.—Yours, etc., ROSALIE ROLLS. August 25, 1986.
