A naval fitter, Murray Colby, of Wellington, checks his work during the recent Work Skills Australia contest run by the Australian Armed Forces in Melbourne. Twenty-eight New Zealanders took part at the special invitation of their Australian colleagues. For the Australian servicemen, the contest was a regional final leading to a national contest for apprentices and trainees in all fields. A similar national contest is being organised in New Zealand, with a view to sending a national team to the next International Work Skills Olympics.
