El Victory looks ready for a big run at Addington

El Victory, a stablemate of Rolls Hanover, will be one of the leading prospects in the Shipleys Vision Pace, the final event on the second night of the N.Z. Metropolitan Trotting Club’s National meeting at Addington Raceway this evening.

The drenching the course received on Friday and Saturday morning forced the club to postpone the meeting until today. The car parks were flooded, as was the birdcage area, although the track was in remarkably good order. El Victory will be opposed by the smallest field of the night, but he is by no means a certainty in the nine-horse' field, which bears an extremely open appearance. The race is one that deserved to be a leg of the T.A.B.

treble and not race 10 as it is one of the more open and interesting on the programme. El Victory was far from disgraced when beaten by Loveridge after forcing the pace on the first night of the meeting. He is certain to be improved and it will be surprising if he fails to be placed. Gentle Sir looked one of the more unlucky runners on the opening night. He failed to work clear in the straight and finished full of running in fourth place behind Loveridge. He has

obviously done a lot of work and will only need to receive a reasonable run to be the hardest to catch.

Andronicus, too, must be considered. He was left in the open for much of last week’s race and was not all that far<’ from Loveridge in third place.

Travel Warrant and Sir Alba appeal most of the remainder, although a big ru ■ from Chipaluck would rot be a complete surprise.
