Sodden course prevents play
A representative golf match between Canterbury and Aorangi, which was to have been played at Ashburton yesterday, was postponed because the course was waterlogged after two days of steady rain. Between Friday and 11 a.m. yesterday 1125 mm of rain fell on the Ashburton course and the decision to postpone the match was made on Saturday evening. The Canterbury and Aorangi associations will look at an alternative date for the match, but it might be difficult to fit it into an already tight representative programme.
