No comeback: Dalton

PA Wellington Many of the Cavaliers who went to South Africa in April as leading All . Blacks will not get their positions back, according to a former New Zealand rugby captain, Andy Dalton. “When they were banned from the French test I said it would cost them their places,” said Dalton yesterday. The new-look All Blacks

beat France and though they lost to Australia at Athletic Park on Saturday only a few changes are expected for the second test at Dunedin on August 23. “Even though they lost on Saturday, they played well. There won’t be any wholesale slaughterings,” Dalton said. “A number of guys are going to hold their places.”

Dalton has ruled out any chance of his playing again this season. His jaw was broken in two places by the Northern Transvaal flanker, Burger Geldenhuys, in Pretoria on April 26 but it has still not mended.

“I will probably have another operation later this year. The jawline has set incorrectly and a few teeth will have to come out,” Dalton said.
