Mighty River the one to beat in strong line-up

The New Plymouth Liquorland Steeples, feature event at the Taranaki Hunt Club’s meeting at New Plymouth today has attracted a strong line-up, but Mighty River looks the one to beat.

Might River won the

Manawatu Hunt Cup earlier this winter and has the form to win the 4200 m ’chase today. At his last start, at Hastings on August 2, Mighty River narrowly won the feature steeplechase and he looks to be one of the smartest horses over country in the Central Districts this winter.

Durham Lad, Gentle

Boy, Hone Heke and Summer Mann are all in top form, while Tamisar was a sound winner of the steeplechase at Hawera last month.

In the T.A.B. double Doc’s Dream (Taranaki Horse Transport Handicap) and Kairau Lad (Mayo Park Stud) are a favoured combination.
