Schools’ zoning to be changed?
Christchurch secondary schools’ zoning scheme may be changed within the next few years.
The Christchurch Secondary Schools’ Council has set up a working party to consider the scheme. The council’s general manager, Mr Malcolm Richards, said the working party would be asked to suggest changes to the scheme, to apply possibly until the year 2000. Even though schools had gone from rising rolls to falling rolls, no change to the scheme had occurred for several years, Mr Richards said. The members of the working party will be Mr
Graeme McNally, senior lecturer in accounting at the University of Canterbury; Mr Terry McLisky, the university’s liaison officer; and Ms Vicki Buck, a Christchurch City councillor.
The working party seeks submissions from the public, and will report back to the council by February next year.
