Policeman may lose job
The future of Michael Walton Foot’s future in the police force was being considered, said the District Commander of police in Christchurch, the Deputy Assistant Commissioner, John Jamieson, after the Court hearing. “The matter will be determined by the Police Commission when they have considered a full
report and looked at all the facts,” he said. An assertion in court by Foot’s solicitor, Mr Nigel Hampton, that Foot’s drinks might have been “spiked” by police colleagues with whom he had been drinking, was not being investigated, said Mr Jamieson. “This was the first I
had heard of this allegation. If it had been made at the time (of the offences) it certainly would have been investigated, but at this stage it would be difficult “There will be no inquiry into this aspect of the case unless we get a specific complaint accompanied by specific facts,” said Mr Jamieson.
