Owners of tent found
PA Wanganui Two German tourists who abandoned their tent on Mount Ruapehu, sparking a search and rescue alert, have been found in Hamilton. A Wanganui police spokesman said yesterday the pair had thought it safer to leave the tent and other non-essential gear behind when they abandoned their camp near the Whakapapaiti stream on the western slope of the mountain about 2 p.m. on Sunday.
