Sir, —What a load of unacceptable rubbish is written in support of the Christian God. In his own irrevocable word, the Christian God of the Old Testament repeatedly orders the butchering of tribes and cities. That is concrete, unarguable fact. Re-reading the tenets of Christianity, the assurance of a favourable response to the prayers of two or three is mooted. As hundreds of millions of Christians prayed for the prevention of war, and copped six years of butchery as a favourable response, it proves the uselessness of praying to their God. God himself instructs the Jews to break his command-, ments in both Exodus and Deuteronomy. I know wars are created by man; so was the Old Testament God who also created wars. Christianity, with its long history of bloody violence, is no panacea for the ills of the world and it is ultimate arrogance and hypocrisy to promote such a religion- as a moral datum. — Yours, etc., ARTHUR MAY.
