Higher efficiency under one roof
Home Improvement Products, Ltd, the makers of aluminium doors, windows, insect screens and conservatories has moved to new premises at 260 Dyers Road. H.I. Products’ old premises, in Kilmore Street, opposite the Town Hall, were too small for the expanding business. The new premises will have a total area of 1770 sq m which includes 1490 sq m of work space. The remainder is office and show room. H.I. Products started
making aluminium screen doors, insect doors and interior doors in 1982, but subsequent expansion into many different types of aluminium fabrications has forced a change of location. In the four years since 1982, H.I. Products has gone beyond the home improvement market into tendering for large-scale commercial jobs. “The whole scene developed so fast that we had to move to another location,” said the manag-
ing director, Mr G. D. Van t Veen. The new location will mean much higher efficiency with everything under the one roof. “The new move ties in with expansion into the commercial field,” he said. Mr Van t Veen said that aluminium joinery could offer tremendous scope both in renovations and new buildings. “The shaping of a window can do a lot for any building, and aluminium
has the versatility to do just that,” Mr Van t Veen said. Besides the home renovation market, H.I. Products has also made an impression in the commercial building field with projects such as Amurl Motors, Metro Milk Station, Countdown Halswell, Mair and Co., and Tasman Tyres Greymouth. A special feature of the new administration block will be the ability to convert the staffroom into a
conference room where special meetings and demonstrations with builders and the public can be held to show off new products and designs. H.I. Products also plans to utilise the large area of extra car parking space as a practical demonstration site for the installation of aluminium joinery. “Our new location will not only have advantages as a working environment, but also for our customers,” Mr Van t Veen said.
