‘Ritual for Dolls’ wins final
Elmwood Players’ “Ritual for Dolls” won the Canterbury divisional final of the Shell Festival of Community Drama on Saturday.
The play was directed by Andrew Davidge and starred Heather Giles, Donald Bruce, Douglas Shields and Steph Rowe.
It was one of the nve plays in the divisional final, the first of four throughout New Zealand. The two-day final was held at the Mill Theatre in Riccarton. The Elmwood play may go on to the national final in Wellington at the end of August. The judge, Mrs Clare Marsh, will select
the top six plays at the divisional final, regardless of area. “Ritual for Dolls” will have a short Christchurch season this week when it is performed at the Elmwood Playhouse, with two other one-act plays, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.
