PA Whangarei New Zealand’s first body-painting championships will be held at the Bay of Islands over the Christmas New Year holiday. The Bay of Islands public relations officer, Mr Bob ■ Franklin, said Rheineck sponsorship of the contest, involving $lOOO in cash and trophies, was confirmed this week. contest will be
open to both male and female artists and models over 18 years of age. The art of body-painting has a substantial following in Australia, but it is believed the inaugural championships at Paihia will be only the second time a contest has been held in New Zealand. “A contest was held in Hamilton about a month ago, and was apparently a tremendous success, with more than 40 entries, ” he said.
