Benefit reform
Sir,—Every journalist and every national superannuitant, as well as the Prime Minister, should read carefully pages 12 and 13 of the Social Welfare Department’s booklet, “Benefit Reform — Have Your Say.” Peter Tapsell has certainly seen it, as his much-publicised and misinterpreted statement draws heavily from it. And Mr Lange need not have dismissed this publication as “musings.” Far from being sinister, this is an open invitation to any New Zealander to put forward ideas on national superannuation in the future. These should be sent to Ministerial Task Force on Income Maintenance, Parliament Buildings.—Yours, etc.,
STAN L. JELLEY. July 22, 1986.
