Maori speaking contest

Post-primary pupils throughout Canterbury competed in the regional finals of the Maori-speak-ing contest at Linwood High School yesterday. The winners of each section will compete in the New Zealand postprimary school contest at Rotorua during September. The contest was divided into English-speaking and Maori-speaking sections with a junior and senior division in each. Maori issues, were discussed by each speaker.
