More money for women’s sport
PA Wellington State funding for' allwomen sports is approaching the amount given to all-male sports, the Government said yesterday. The Minister of Sport, Mr Moore, said women’s sports groups received about $141,500 in Government grants in the 1985-86 financial year, compared with $149,900 for men’s. He compared this with the situation two years before when women had received $90,200 and men $168,400. The latest figures represent 14 per cent of the total sports grants budget. The other $1.3 million went to mixed-sports organisations.
