The company has recently taken delivery of a new IBM 536 processor with the Intention of progressively bringing all accounting, management and manufacturing functions on to the system utilising the BPCS maufacturing software. The appointee will assist in establishing all operational procedures/schedules and be totally responsible for the day to day operating functions liaising closely with people at all levels. It is envisaged that a standard 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. five day week format will be followed, however during the initial establishment of the installation some regular overtime will be necessary. We have been asked to identify candidates with good communication skills and an operations background on IBM 534/36 systems or similar equipment. |BH A basic knowledge of RPG II programming techniques would also be an advantage but is not necessary. Applicants should have proven senior management skills and be keen to lead an enthusiastic and well qualified staff. The appointee will have the authority and be accountable for the management and implementation of the Board’s policies. The Board’s responsibilities cover the full range of water and soil resource management activities in the Hawkes Bay region, the performance of which involves an annual expenditure of S9M. These range over a comprehensive works programme including flood control, drainage, soil conservation and coastal works as well as the administration of water resource planning and allocation. It is expected that the person to fill this role will be widely experienced in senior management, preferably but not essentially in the water and soild field with a working knowledge of the Soil Conservation & Rivers Control Act 1941 and the Water & Soil Conservation Act 1967.
