The export growth curve has been exceptionally high, with annual value currently above $250 million, and its continued extension will be supported by overseas market research and promotion (expenditure presently $l4 million pa) and by comprehensive developments and innovations in product varieties, handling methods etc. The Authority's establishment has expanded gradually to some 30 people. The Planning Manager will be responsible to the Chief Executive for the Authority's strategic planning, transportation/handling improvement studies, management of scientific research programmes (budget $1 million), planting and production projections (NZ and other countries), and ad hoc research and planning assignments. The position is largely “hands-on” and requires quite regular domestic and occasional overseas travel.
